Propagation 2011 - LED grow lights
What about????

Comments from Tom Cleghorn:
He uses a wooden box with holes for ventilation and temperature control.  He uses 20W warm light CFLs.  He has difficulty in starting tubers under light, so he starts them in the greenhouse and then moves them under the light.

He tends not to get fungal viruses under light and plants seem to have better tubers.

To improve the reflectivity of light on the sides of the box he uses low odour paint.

He uses yellow pest control sticky raps to capture any pests in the box, this also lets him identify what they are - good tip

He puts 4 / 5 cuttings in a 3.5" pot ( using B&Q multipurpose rooting compost), places a 1l plastic bottle over the top (after cutting the bottom off) which gives a micro climate under the, light very successfully.  I shall try this, thanks Tom.

Companion growing
Tom is interested in companion growing.  This is where 2 or 3 plants, of the same variety, are grown together in a clump.  They seem to absorb less fertiliser, but create stronger plants!  Tom wishes to understand why?
